Hyunsoo Lee and Yeryeong Cho, who are members of Professor Joongheon Kim's research team at the Korea University School of Electrical Engineering, have been awarded the grand prize (Minister of Science and ICT Award) at the '16th ICT Paper Contest', jointly hosted by The Electronic Times, Webcash Group, and the Software Industry Cooperative Association.

The Excellence Awards were claimed by Gyeongmoon Kwak, Kyungho Park, and Jongbin Ahn from Yonsei University's School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Webcash Group Chairman's Award), and Wonhyuk Choi, Kyumin Hwang, and Minwoo Choi from DGIST's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (Software Industry Cooperative Association Chairman's Award).

The Distinguished Awards were given to Jaeho Kim and Myeongo Han from Seoul National University's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Eunjoo Bang from KAIST's School of Electrical Engineering (President of The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers Award), Yong Lee from Yonsei University's Department of Electronic Engineering, and Mingeon Kim from DGIST's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (President of The Korean Institute of Communication and Information Sciences Award), Hyungjun Moon and Sungbae Cho from Yonsei University's Department of Artificial Intelligence/Computer Science (President of The Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers Award), Gunwoo Kim, Yoowang Kim, and Hyoseok Lee from POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering/Graduate School of AI (President of The Korea Information Processing Society Award), Sojung Park from POSTECH's School of Electrical Engineering (President of The Korea Display Industry Association Award), and Hyunsu Jung and Chiho Yoon from POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering/Graduate School of AI (The Electronic Times CEO Award).

The papers were reviewed in two rounds by five professors recommended by the relevant academic societies, based solely on the content of the papers after removing information about the students' schools, departments, and names to ensure fairness.

In addition to selecting the winners of the ICT Paper Contest, The Electronic Times, which aims to foster talent among university and graduate students, will present special awards to four professors who contributed to guiding the students in submitting papers. The special awards go to Professor Taehyun Oh (POSTECH), Professor Hyunjae Kim (Yonsei University), Professor Sunghak Lee (Kyungpook National University), and Professor Hoon Kim (Incheon National University).

The award ceremony will take place on the 20th of next month at Webcash Group's headquarters. The grand prize winners will receive a certificate and a scholarship of 15 million KRW, while the Excellence Award winners will receive a certificate and a scholarship of 5 million KRW, and the Distinguished Award winners will receive a certificate and a scholarship of 3 million KRW.
