Among six Korea University faculty members named in the 2024 Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) list announced by global information analytics company Clarivate, Professor Choon Ki Ahn from the School of Electrical Engineering was the only Korean researcher selected in the Engineering category for the sixth consecutive year.

Clarivate compiles the HCR list annually using its Web of Science data, identifying researchers whose publications rank in the top 1% of citations in their respective fields. This year, a total of 6,636 researchers from 1,200 institutions across 59 countries were selected, representing the top 0.1% of researchers worldwide.

Professor Ahn’s research focuses on intelligent and autonomous control. He gained international recognition as the first Asian Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (TNNLS), the world’s leading journal in neural networks and artificial intelligence, in 2022. He further made history as the first Korean Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Systems Journal (SYSJ) in 2023 and IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems (TSMCS) in 2024, the most prestigious journal in autonomous intelligence. In 2023, he was inducted into Korea University's Hall of Fame as a World-Class Researcher.
