Prof. Inkyu Lee of the Korea University School of Electrical Engineering was appointed President of the Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences (KICS), effective January 1, 2026.
Founded in 1974, KICS is Korea’s leading academic society in the field of information and communications technology (ICT) and is regarded as the largest domestic academic organization in this domain. The institute comprises approximately 30,000 members, more than 50 corporate members, 8 domestic chapters, 16 international chapters, 6 societies, and 25 technical committees.
Prof. Lee received his bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University and his Ph.D. in wireless communications from Stanford University, USA. He then worked for seven years as a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Labs and Lucent Technologies before joining Korea University in 2002, where he has since served as a professor in the School of Electrical Engineering.
Prof. Lee is internationally recognized as a leading scholar in multi-antenna signal processing, a core technology for 4G and 5G mobile communications. He is an IEEE Fellow and a regular member of both the National Academy of Engineering of Korea and the Korean Academy of Science and Technology. His honors include the Young Engineer Award from the National Academy of Engineering of Korea, the Presidential Korean Engineering Award from the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea, and the National Academy of Sciences Award (Engineering Division).
