Dr. Hyun-Su Lee (advised by Professor Hyung-Min Lee) from the School of Electrical Engineering at Korea University has been appointed as an Assistant Professor in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. NTU is ranked 4th worldwide in the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the 2026 QS World University Rankings and is widely recognized as a leading global research-intensive university driving innovation in engineering education and research.
Dr. Lee completed his undergraduate studies (Class of 2014) in Electrical Engineering at Korea University, and subsequently earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees under the supervision of Professor Hyung-Min Lee. He continued his research as a postdoctoral researcher in the same laboratory for one year, further expanding his research scope, before joining NTU as an Assistant Professor in May 2026.
Dr. Lee’s research focuses on semiconductor integrated circuit (IC) design, with particular emphasis on wireless power transfer, data telemetry, and biomedical circuit technologies. His work aims to overcome limitations of conventional circuit architectures by enhancing system integration, efficiency, and reliability. In particular, he collaborated with Samsung Medical Center to conduct various animal studies for the precise validation of biomedical circuit chips. His research has been published in leading conferences and journals in the field, including the IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC), IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits (JSSC), IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems (TBioCAS), IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I (TCAS-I), and IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics (TPEL). In recognition of his outstanding research achievements, Dr. Lee received the Presidential Award at the Korea Semiconductor Design Contest in 2022. He was also honored with Predoctoral Awards from the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) and the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS).
Notably, Dr. Lee was appointed as a faculty member at a world-renowned university without prior overseas research experience, having completed his entire academic and research training—from undergraduate to postdoctoral levels—at Korea University. This achievement highlights a case in which research capabilities developed entirely within Korea have been highly recognized by the international academic community.
Dr. Lee remarked, “Through the systematic research training and academic experience at Korea University, I was able to develop expertise in semiconductor integrated circuits. I am deeply grateful to Professor Hyung-Min Lee for his guidance, and I will strive to contribute to both education and academic advancement based on the research mindset and skills I have learned.
