Graduate School

The school of Electrical Engineering offers MS, Ph.D., and MS/Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering. Students applying for the MS program must have a bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering (or related field). Students applying for the Ph.D. program must have an MS degree in electrical or omputer engineering (or related field).
Students admitted only with the degree objective join a research laboratory and participate in research from the very beginning, and thus it is desirable that applicants have a defined area of interest before applying.

REQUIREMENTS FOR MS/PH.D.DEGREE

The MS program in the school is a research-oriented degree that requires 24 credits of course work, designed towards the electrical engineering Ph.D. degree. At least 12 credits must be taken in the school, and at least two courses are taken from seminar courses arranged in the school. MS students must pass Qualifying Examination in one fundamental course and two research-related courses (designated by thesis adviser), and successfully defend the master’s thesis.
