Korea University’s Professor Youngsu Cha’s Lab Wins Grand Prize at the Korea Electronics Technology Institute’s AI Convergence & Application Technology Idea Contest

The team, from Professor Youngsu Cha’s lab at the School of Electrical Engineering at Korea University, consisting of Sohyun Kim, SeungHoon Yoo, and Joohyeon Kang, received the Grand Prize at the “AI Convergence & Application Technology Idea Contest” held on October 4th. The event was co-hosted by Korea University’s Business-Academia Cooperation Center and the Korea Electronics Technology Institute.
The “AI Convergence & Application Technology Idea Contest,” co-hosted by Korea University and the Korea Electronics Technology Institute, aims to foster talent in AI convergence and application fields and discover innovative ideas to address current R&D challenges.
The Grand Prize (Director’s Award) was awarded to Sohyun Kim and SeungHoon Yoo, integrated master’s and doctoral students from the School of Electrical Engineering, and Joohyeon Kang, a master’s student from the Department of Smart Convergence, for their presentation on the research topic, “Service Idea for Monitoring Outdoor Facilities with Autonomous Heterogeneous Robots (Quadruped Walking/Driving Robots).” Their idea, titled “Development of a Robot Service for Indoor/Outdoor Facility Monitoring Based on Origami Module and AI Technology,” involves utilizing an origami module to combine the advantages of wheeled driving and quadruped walking, providing versatile solutions for various industrial sites.
Regarding the award, the team from Professor Youngsu Cha’s lab at Korea University shared, “We are truly delighted and honored to have won the award at the AI Convergence & Application Technology Idea Contest.
