The Korea University School of Electrical Engineering held its "2024 Day of Electrical Engineering: 熱血電電" on October 4th, successfully bringing the event to a close. This annual event was designed to provide students with valuable career exploration opportunities and to deepen their understanding of their major through communication with professors and alumni. Over 200 students, 30 professors, and several alumni participated, showcasing their intense interest and passion.
 

The event began with a welcoming speech from the head of the department at the Engineering Building Auditorium, followed by an open lab tour where students visited various research labs. Through this tour, students had the chance to experience firsthand the projects and research environments of each lab. Sojun Park (EE ’23) expressed, “Experiencing the projects and environments of each research lab gave me a realistic perspective on my field of study and helped me find the area I want to pursue. It was an incredibly valuable experience.”

In the afternoon, the second session of the event featured guest lectures from alumni, including Soonjae Won (EE ’90) from Samsung Electronics, Shizhin Shi (EE ’17), and Daehong Lee (EE ’07), who founded his own business. Each alumnus provided insightful lectures on career exploration and the current state of the industry. Students who had pre-submitted questions were able to engage directly with the speakers, receiving practical advice and encouragement.

The final part of the event was a mentoring dinner held at a restaurant near Nobel Square. Here, professors and students engaged in lively discussions on a variety of topics, including career paths, research, and daily life, in a more relaxed atmosphere. Faculty members actively provided career counseling to students, which was met with enthusiastic responses.

The School of Electrical Engineering student council shared, “We hope this event has helped students concretize their vision for their major and career,” adding that they are committed to continuously organizing opportunities for students to gain real-world experiences and advice.
