Professor Jong-Ok Kim Elected as President of the Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea for 2026

The Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea (IEEK) announced that Professor Jong-Ok Kim of the Korea University School of Electrical Engineering has been elected as the 56th President of the society during its general assembly held on November 28.
Professor Kim received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electronic Engineering from Korea University, and his Ph.D. in Engineering from Osaka University, Japan. Before joining Korea University in 2009, he worked as a researcher at SK Telecom, MCubeWorks, and the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR) in Japan. He is currently serving as the Chair of the School of Electrical Engineering at Korea University.
“The field of electronic engineering stands at the core of rapidly evolving industrial paradigms such as artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous driving, and digital transformation,” said Professor Kim. “As the IEEK celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2026, I will strive to ensure that the society continues to serve as both a producer of knowledge and a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration.”
Professor Kim will officially assume his presidency on January 1, 2026, for a one-year term.
The IEEK also announced that Professor Won-Woo Roh of Yonsei University has been elected as Senior Vice President, while Professors Byung-Chul Song (Inha University), Kang-Yoon Lee (Sungkyunkwan University), and Sung-Hyun Cho (Hanyang University) have been elected as Vice Presidents.
